CSIR - Central Leather Research Institute (CSIR-CLRI) is organizing an executive training program on “Identification and Examination of Leather and Leather articles/ products for the clearance of Export and Import” for 25 officials from the Office of the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Chennai. The program is being organized from 25th to 29th October 2021 and is conducted in collaboration with National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics (NACIN), Chennai. The Inauguration of the program was held on 25th October 2021 at Conference Hall - COSTED, CSIR-CLRI. Dr.K.J.Sreeram, Director, CSIR-CLRI and Shri.K.S.V.V.Prasad, IRS, Additional Director General, NACIN, Chennai presided over the session. Dr.R.Aravindhan, Principal Scientist, Leather Process Technology Division, CSIR-CLRI delivered the welcome address. Dr.K.J.Sreeram shared about the current trends in the Indian and global leather industry and the future role of CSIR-CLRI and Customs Officials in approaching leather export consignments. Shri.K.S.V.V. Prasad threw light on the current industry trends in India, ways to tackle the challenges faced and the expected outcomes from the training program. Dr.R.Aravindhan shared about the highlights of the training program and the technical aspects that will be covered. The event was also graced by the presence of Shri S Kesava Narayana Reddy, IRS, Additional Director, Shri Rama Prasada Reddy, IRS, Assistant Director and Shri P Deenadayalan, Course Counselor from NACIN, Chennai. Experts from CSIR-CLRI and the officials who are undergoing training from the Office of the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Chennai were also present during the session. The theory and practical sessions for the officials commenced at CSIR-CLRI post the inauguration session.
