Team India comprising BIS Quality Experts and a high-level delegation from CSIR-CLRI led by the Director, Dr B Chandrasekaran and accompanied by Dr BN Das, Chief Scientist and Dr (Mrs) Phebe Aaron participated in the ISO TC 120 plenary meeting and evolved the leather and leather products (other than footwear) standards. The other participants included representatives from the Indian Leather Sector and delegates’ from Kenya, UK and Turkey. The meetings were held during 21^st to 24^th June 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey and proved to be very successful in endorsing India’s prominence in the area of establishment of standards in the leather & leather products arena.

On this occasion, deliberations were made on the XXXIV IULTCS Congress 2017 that would be hosted by India (ILTA/ CLRI) and was decided that in the next ISO TC 120 plenary meeting would be held in Chennai coinciding with the XXXIV IULTCS Congress 2017.

All delegates were enthused and expressed their willingness to participate.
