A self-coloured magnetic leather for industrial applications and a process for the preparation thereof
Present invention relates to a method of producing leathers in different colors with magnetic property simultaneously by a single chemical treatment without employing synthetic or natural dyes or pigments. Generally, leather is a diamagnetic material. Further, conventional leather processing employs synthetic or natural dyes or pigments for coloration process. The present invention aims at providing simultaneously magnetic property and color to leather by a single chemical treatment thereby ensuring the use of the processed leathers for smart product applications. The suitable magnetic materials/nanoparticles are incorporated within the leather matrix in-situ. The structural and morphological features of the resultant leathers are not altered significantly. Leathers with varying magnetization and color shades can be obtained by altering the choice of chemicals. Such leathers are suitable for manufacturing smart leather products, which have potential for applications in intelligent garments, EMI shielding, microwave absorption, electronic product case/cover, bar coding, wall/floor tiles/coverings, magnetic health care etc. Indian Patent application no. is 2461DEL2014.

A novel bi-functional leather for smart product applications and a process for the preparation thereof
Present invention relates to a method of producing leathers in different colors with electrical conductivity simultaneously by a single chemical treatment without employing synthetic or natural dyes or pigments. Naturally Present invention relates to a method of producing leathers in different colors with electrical conductivity simultaneously by a single chemical treatment without employing synthetic or natural dyes or pigments. Naturally leather is electrically insulating material having resistance more than 200 MΩ. The present invention aims at improving electrical conductivity of leather with desired colors for smart product applications. The suitable chemicals are incorporated within the leather matrix by in-situ polymerization technique. The structural and morphological features of the resultant leathers are not altered significantly. Depending on the choice of chemicals, leathers with satisfactory electrical conductivity with popular color shades can be obtained. Such leathers are suitable for manufacturing leather gloves that can be used for operating touch screen devices. The invention ensures ease of application and has a potential for scaling up for bulk production using existing facilities in leather processing industry. Indian Patent application no. is 1269Del2014.

A novel bi-functional leather for smart product applications and a process for the preparation thereof
Ankle foot orthosis (AFO) is one of the effective offloading devices. The currently available AFOs and removable walker are customized. Due to neuropathy and peripheral vascular disease, the anatomy of foot of patients with diabetes is significantly different from normal subjects. There are possibilities to get ulcer at any part of the foot sole. In such cases offloading is done by customized AFO. Depending upon the ulcer site, the AFO is made customized. But this method is time consuming and may delay the treatment process. In the present invention, a new design of insole was developed so that an AFO can be used for all patients irrespective of their ulcer site. Indian Patent application no. is 1630DEL2014.

Mask leather and a process for the preparation thereof
Disclosed herein is mask leather exhibiting air permeability in the range of 38-42 mg/cm2h with a filtration efficiency of 80–85%. The leather is produced by bioprocessing under controlled conditions of pH and temperature. The invention finds application in the personal protective product industry for making washable masks for protection from suspended particles and other suspended materials.
